Seekonk Public Schools’ District Curriculum Accommodation Plan (DCAP) is intended to assist principals, assistant principals, teachers, and related service providers to ensure that all efforts are made to meet students’ needs in the general education setting. The DCAP includes Student Support Teams (SSTs) to provide interventions and supports in order for all students to be successful in the general education setting.
Seekonk Public Schools is committed to the philosophy that all students can learn at a high level and student success is the result of a partnership between students, teachers, related service providers, and families. The purpose of the SST process is to identify aspects of the student-teacher partnership where interventions in the general education setting can help the student access the general education curriculum effectively using all available resources. This plan also calls for a focus on direct and systematic instruction in literacy and mathematics, and interventions to address the needs of students whose behavior and/or social emotional needs may interfere with learning.
The plan also reflects a commitment to providing adequate instructional support to students and teachers, including scaffolded interventions when needed, consultative services for educators, appropriate professional development and training, and the availability of appropriate reading instruction for students.
Please note that this document is constantly being updated to reflect best teaching practices and to most accurately reflect the resources provided to ensure that all students are successful.
