Parents/Guardians must also complete the Home Education Plan Application. The Home Education Plan Application must be submitted to and approved by the Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning.
Memorandum of Understanding
The parent(s) shall submit reports, consistent with the Seekonk Public Schools’ marking periods, to the Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning, indicating general areas of student study, the progress of the student in each of those areas and the amount of time spent on each subject on a weekly basis during the quarter. Should the Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning determine the reports to show insufficient progress, the parent shall be so notified and a meeting shall be convened to determine whether the approval shall be revoked.
At the request of the Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning, the parent(s) will present the student at a schedule convenient to the school designated, to participate in those system-wide assessments of progress which are administered to students at each grade level. The Seekonk Public Schools currently include assessments under Chapter 766, Basic Skills Assessments and achievement testing although grade level requirements for these tests vary.
If requested, the parent(s) shall meet with the Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning at the end of each year to review the student’s progress.
The parent(s) shall comply with such reasonable special conditions which the Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning shall require.
Any home instruction plan must be approved annually if the student is to continue in a home study program for more than one school year.
